Empty Shelves Across the Planet, but Why?

Store shelves across many parts of our planet seem to be thinning, but not due to storm Barry, its from bad harvest and supply chain woes.

From US to Canada, to Kenya and the UK, we see the same excuses and same result, food prices up, and non-availability.

Climate Revolution is a ‘Must Read’ for understanding our Sun driven climate as we progress deeper into the new Eddy Grand Solar Minimum. Weather extremes leading to Global food scarcity and high food prices are here now, and this book describes the expected changes, how to survive & thrive during future challenging times with practical preparations.

Grand Solar Minimum channel recently tweeted, “If last year's crop was bad…imagine what will this year's impact next year.” This must be a concern for everyone because the 2018 crop was a lot better compared to the current crop output; but is still creating these types of food price rises and food shortages, scarcity, if you will. Can you imagine what will happen next year?

Look at this notice from store’s management: “Due to the poor harvest season, we are experiencing shortages” This means producers were using carryover stocks from last year's harvest to produce those canned goods, because there is no harvest coming in as of mid-summer, the plants are not yet maturated. We are at the lowest in terms of planting since 1938 in the United States; and China lost 30% of its corn already as well. Thus, next year, there will definitely be thinning of the shelves.

Additionally, global supply chains are dangerously easy to snap, and that is an understatement. Everything is very dependent on the easy flow of credit. So, if there is a credit lock-up like the once experienced in 2008 and 2009, global supply chains will contract once again.

Case in point, look at The Global Food Supply System, these interconnections of major industries running the food economy, as shown in the chart below. Now, imagine if our economy drops 25 or 30% due to incredibly bad harvests or doubling food prices. What will happen in The Global Food System? What piece will lockup first? What is the trickle-down effect? Where will be the next lockup? Where will the non-delivery be at the end of that chain? Because this is where the danger lies in such a fine-tuned food supply chain.

In this, DC CLOTHESLINE article, “bare store shelves” caught my attention. This was on February 6th, and has been an ongoing event since that time, and just to clarify, I have purposely not chosen store shelves from hurricane areas because every time a hurricane strikes, some shelves are going to be emptied. This store, with empty shelves is in a place completely devoid of any natural disaster. So why are we seeing so many bare shelves, like this, across grocery stores, globally?

I said ‘globally’, because Kenya headlines, “Empty Shelves Depict a Bleak Future for Choppies Supermarket.

Business news media in Kenya are trying to allay panic among their citizens, insisting that it is not really a shortage, but just a monetary issue. Accordingly, this will get straightened out eventually, and more resources will be devoted to the operation.

Then, there are these product shortages. This notice is from Walmart management: “Due to limited availability, we are experiencing product shortages across this category. We're working with our suppliers to get these items back as quickly as possible.” Well, like I said, you cannot print food, like you can print money. Let us hope that next year, this Grand Solar Minimum does not intensify.
