Myanmar’s export earning from Beans & Pulses in the first two months of fiscal year 2013-14 has dropped compared to the same period in 2012, according to the Ministry of Commerce. Beans earning between April 1 and May 17 this year was US$119.56 million, fallen from US$134.54 million earned in the same period last year.
Beans are the major export commodity of Myanmar. Over 160,000 tonnes of different kinds of beans have been exported in this fiscal year. Among them, over 60,000 tonnes of exported beans are mung beans, whose total earning alone was US$51 million.
